The Blue Lambo
Lamborghini Diablo
Scissor doors. Enough said.
Lamborghini name their cars after fighting bulls, and Diablo was a famously ferocious one that fought in Spain in 1869. It is a fair warning about what followed.
The Diablo replaced the Countach in 1990 and kept the two things everyone loved about it: a giant V12 sitting behind your head, and doors that do not swing out but instead rise straight up, scissor-style. There is no practical reason for doors to open like that. That has never mattered to anybody.
It was one of the first road cars anywhere capable of over 200mph, and it was so wide and so low that seeing out of the back was essentially optional.
Ours is a tribute in electric blue with the big rear wing. Of all the cars here, this is the one that stops traffic — the doors going up in the school car park reliably draws a crowd.
